Just 19.6% of those surveyed said they believe all or most news media reporting. This number is down from 27.4% in 2003. Even more discouraging is that a whopping 23.9% believe little or no news, while 55.3% believe only some news media reporting. In 2003, 79.3% responded that the news media attempts to influence public opinion, 87.6% said the same last year.

He added, "Americans know that it's just not that hard to present both sides and keep personal bias at home." The New York Times and National Public Radio were rated as mostly to somewhat liberal by approximately 40% of respondents, while around 11% responded that those outlets were conservative.
Respondents rated the cable TV networks on accuracy of reporting in declining order as Fox News (27.0%), CNN (14.6%), NBC News (10.90%), ABC News (7.0%), local news (6.9%), CBS News, (6.8%) MSNBC (4.0%), PBS News (3.0%), CNBC (0.6%) and CBN (0.5%).
